We're very close to seeing solar panels on the bowling club roof
Since last year Climate Action Newcastle have been working with Carrington Bowling Club to scope and raise funds for a rooftop solar system on the club. With gigs, raffles and special promotions put on by CAN and club CEO Jaci Lappin, the fund is now up to $23,450 - very close to our fundraiser target of $24,000. From here the Club can put panels on the roof soon, while they try for grants to bring it up to the full system of about 50KW.
The aim of the project is to help the club save money on their energy bills, and to generate more solar power in Newcastle. Local bowling clubs are important community institutions and spaces that we all use, so helping them to keep the doors open while generating renewable energy is a win-win.
Once this project is achieved CAN will be working with the Croatian Wickham Sports Club (where we meet the first Wednesday of every month).
Anybody who would like to be involved in the next Croatian Club solar effort please call CAN on 0425 315664.
