Walk Against Warming and the Smart Energy Expo 2008

Dear CAN supporters,

November is a big month for climate action, with the Walk Against Warming on Saturday 15th and the Smart Energy Expo on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th November.

Walk Against Warming

This year, CAN is supporting the Sydney Walk Against Warming on Saturday 15th November at 11am at Martin Place. Hundreds of Novocastrians are making our their down to Sydney by train to be a part of this huge show of community spirit.

Join thousands of families, workplaces and communities in a walk for renewable energy and a safe climate future for our children. With vital decisions being made this year, we will Walk Against Warming to ensure the Australian Government supports strong, urgent action and justice for developing nations affected by global warming.

RSVP for the walk by emailing: can@climateaction.org.au

Most of us will take the 7:20am train from Newcastle station (Hamilton: 7:26am, Cardiff: 7:40am). We will be taking banners and placards and our dress code is “EMERGENCY”, so dress colourfully. The huge 5m-wide CAN “Climate Emergency” Banner will be making the journey, along with as many hand painted banners as we can manage (why not paint your own?!).

Join us in this important show of strength for real action on climate change. See you on the train!

It would be great if you could help in distributing WAW flyers and posters in your area. Contact can@climateaction.org.au if you can help.

Smart Energy Expo

The Smart Energy Expo Newcastle 2008 is rapidly approaching. The expo will be held on 29th and 30th November 2008 at the Honeysuckle Boiler Shop, Newcastle.

Watch for the ads in The Herald and on NBN TV in November!

This year's Expo will showcase a wide range of appliances, products, services and ideas available to the people of Newcastle to make their own contribution to tackling climate change. The Expo will include the following Exhibitiors:

  • Solar & heat pump hot water providers
  • Insulation suppliers
  • Renewable energy systems (wind & solar)
  • Rainwater tanks
  • Government representatives
  • Smart lighting options
  • Sustainable building options

Put the Expo in your diary and come along to find out about a range of options available to you today to help halt climate change.
